The purpose of the American Red Cross Administering Emergency Oxygen course is to give you the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to a victim of a breathing emergency using breathing devices, including resuscitation masks, bag-valve-mask resuscitators (BVMs) and emergency oxygen. You need to have a current adult, child or infant CPR certifi cation. Bring this certifi cation with you to the fi rst day of class. To successfully complete the course, you must attend the entire class session, participate in all skill sessions, demonstrate competency in all required skills and pass the fi nal written exam with a minimum grade of 80 percent. Some skill sessions require strenuous physical activity. Please wear comfortable clothing and avoid wearing dangling jewelry or jewelry with sharp edges. If you have a medical condition or disability or if you have any questions regarding your ability to participate fully in this course, discuss this with your health care provider and the local Red Cross chapter before you start the course. Before attending the fi rst class, please be sure you have read the attached document, Health Precautions and Guidelines During Training. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Red Cross Administering Emergency Oxygen certificate.
